Story: I follow a lot of famous nature photographers on instagram and they always spark some ideas for new paintings. I saw one photo of a chairlift in the snow and knew I wanted to try my take on it. Chairlift Dreams is my new favorite painting- I love the colors of this ski slope-inspired abstract winterscape. I’m an avid, skier and painted this in New York City while it was snowing, and I was missing the sport. I wanted to add some snow and thought colors were a fun way to add motion and magic to the piece. I emphasize certain snowflakes to make the snow come to life out of the painting. The background is a swirl of colors to make it feel like a dream.
